Digital trichoscopy
Trichoscopy is a non-invasive exam that uses a high-magnification digital camera to look at the scalp and hair shaft in detail. At The Scalp Labs it is part of a complete hair assessment, which combines what the images show with your routine, your lifestyle and your history.
Before your appointment you receive a short questionnaire about diet, stress, sleep, hormonal changes, medication and family history.

We do not perform transplants, so the plan we propose is always non-surgical. And the €60 is deducted if you go ahead with a pack.
When the assessment suggests the cause may be internal, we recommend this consultation with our naturopath. It is especially suited to diffuse shedding, postpartum hair loss, stress, an unbalanced diet or suspected hormonal changes.

It does not hurt and it is not invasive. We use a high-magnification digital camera that lightly touches the scalp and shows on screen what the naked eye cannot see: density, hair thickness, the state of the follicles and signs of oiliness, flaking or inflammation. You see the images with us and we explain everything we find.
Trichoscopy helps identify the type of hair loss you have and what is happening on the scalp, which already guides treatment a great deal. Because hair loss can be linked to internal factors such as diet, stress or hormonal changes, we combine the images with the hair health questionnaire you fill in before the appointment. When there are signs of an internal cause, we recommend the Hair Health Consultation with our naturopath to look deeper.
The Hair Assessment & Trichoscopy costs €60 and takes about 30 minutes. If you go ahead with a treatment pack, the €60 is deducted from the pack price.
At transplant clinics, a free assessment is usually a way to refer you to surgery. We do not perform surgery, so our assessment is not a sales pitch: it is a technical service, done properly, that gives you useful information about your hair whether or not you treat with us. And if you go ahead, the fee is deducted.
No. You leave with a clear plan and recommendations for your case, and you decide in your own time. If we conclude you do not need treatment, we will tell you.
Yes, subject to availability. If treatment is suited to your case and you want to go ahead, we can do the first session right after the assessment. If you prefer, let us know when booking so we can reserve the time.
In most cases, no. The earlier you start, the more options you have, because follicles that are still active respond better to treatment. The assessment is there to understand where you are and the best way forward.
Yes. We assess men and women with hair loss, thinning hair or scalp changes such as oiliness, dandruff or sensitivity.
The assessment is carried out by our therapist specialised in hair health, trained in trichoscopy and in the treatments we offer. When needed, she works together with our naturopath and, where appropriate, we recommend medical follow-up.
No. The Scalp Labs is dedicated exclusively to non-surgical treatments. That is why our assessment is never aimed at referring you to surgery.
We are in Parque das Nações, Lisbon. We are open Monday to Friday from 10am to 8pm, and Saturday from 10am to 2pm. Bookings are made via WhatsApp.
